Melrose Grill

I went out this morning determined to find a sketching location.  Once again, no parking spot with a good view of that antique store.  I’ve wanted to sketch this interesting old building and today found a good spot to park the car.  I’ve not eaten at the Melrose Grill.  We seem to always go to the the other couple places we like in town.  It’s right next to the rail tracks that go through town.  Now that the Renton Dinner Train is no more, about the only trains that come through are transporting Boeing fuselages.  I’ve sketched that before!

Nice sketch! And hey, I like that “sketched in Seattle” stamp!

Thanks. The sketchers in Portland gave me the idea for the stamp….. one of them had a “made in Portland” stamp that we used during the USK workshop there.

I love looking at your sketches. They always remind me of something from the past. Before you were born Barbara and I use to get on the train in Flint and get off in Imaly City once every summer. Your mother would pay for our train ticket and we would spend at least one night at your parents home. Our parents would then pick us up. Always when the train stopped in Lapeer, Granddad would be there greeting the train. Great memories. Thanks for jogging my memory.
