My first commission

I don’t remember that I’ve ever had a commission before, even when I was painting when I was young(er).  Out of the blue last week a fellow volunteer at the Museum asked if I would sketch a portrait.  He posed for a photo and I drew it from that today.  He said he only wanted an ink drawing but I may also try a watercolor one just for practice.  I do not intend to charge him for it as it’s an experiment for me.

Later…… Here’s the watercolor experiment.

Very nice. It captures some personality as well.

A great portrait, Kate! I agree – you captured something of the person, not just his face. What did the sitter think?
