Sit upon

One of the few things I learned in my 5 minutes in Girl Scouts was how to make what they called a “sit-upon”.  I’ve recently learned other people call them by different names and made them in different ways.  It’s a pad to use when sitting on the ground.  I think we made them out of oilcloth table cloth material and news paper.  It gave me the idea for this.  I’ll use it to sit to sketch when I don’t want to carry my stool.  I can sit on the ground and stay dry.

It’s made of cotton fabric interlined with marine vinyl and fleece.  I liked this bright cotton print for it’s “painting” theme.  The bottom is just heavy black fabric.
