Mt. Vernon USK Workshop

Frank Ching and Gail Wong offered a one day Urban Sketchers workshop, hosted in Mt. Vernon.  It was a trial run before their 3 day one next month.

The first part of the morning and then the afternoon was a presentation illustrated with a slide show.  Frank talked about line, composition, perspective.  Gail discussed adding color to the drawing, mixing hues and adding depth with values.  That’s a very brief summary.

iPad used to show the presentations! I was interested in the tech, too.

After each section we went out to sketch.  In the morning we stayed closer together.
It had started to drizzle by afternoon.  Some stayed in and some went out.  I went out but then had difficulty because the watercolor wash wouldn’t dry.  Despite my dissatisfaction with my sketches today, I did learn a lot I can gradually assimilate into my sketching.  Putting the concepts into practice needs more practice!
