Out to Issaquah

When I went to the Issaquah Farmers Market on Saturday I got a bit turned around trying to get out of town.  I ended up on Front Street, the main street of the old fashioned down town Issaquah.  It is quite charming.  I resolved to return to sketch.  Given that today’s rain never came and it is bright, warm and sunny, today was the day.

On the drive out, I planned to try lunch at a roadside cafe and then sketch.  The menu is quite varied and the food was good.  It seems like an old fashioned restaurant that used to be found on roads before freeways.  I remember stopping at one like this as a child, traveling across the state with my parents to visit relatives.

My destination was this historic Shell station.   Looking on the Issaquah web site after I got home,  I learned their motto is “Historically Hip”.

Issaquah….. it’s one of those First Nation’s names of which we have so many in WA.
