Watching the Olympics

Just as many people have been doing, we’ve been watching the Olympic Games in Sochi.  Here is a journal page done from the TV while watching one of the Giant Slalom events.

I’ve been puzzled by the motto of the Sochi games, “Hot. Cool. Yours.”  While the individual words are understandable, the phrase is nonsensical, at least in English.  Maybe it’s a poor translation of something meaningful in Russian.  NBC reporters tried to find someone who could tell them what it meant but were entirely unsuccessful.

We’ve been recording the events from Canadian TV, CBC.  We get one channel from Canada on our cable provider.  We’ve done this for the past 3 games as the Canadians have less drivel.  However, they do seem to be doing more athlete profiles than they used to do, but still less than NBC.
