Organ concert

This organ concert is a regular Third Friday series at noon at Christ Episcopal Church, Tacoma.  The large pipe organ itself is the Brombaugh Organ. This organ was built in 1979 by John Brombaugh & Associates of Eugene, OR.

Factoid:  There was an informational talk accompanying the concert.  “In the 17th century, the pipe organ was the largest mechanical device”.

I heard about the concert in an emailed update of events.  Frances and I decided to go with an eye to also sketching the church.  It was a beautiful concert and was well attended.

The church is somewhat unusual for Episcopal Churches.  It is poured concrete.  Despite its grim exterior, it had quite a bit of color and interest inside.  Of course, the magnificent organ added to the ambiance.

  1. I like how you left the congregation as a pencil sketch and added color to the star of the show. Nice!!!
