After our sketch outing at Fran’s, I went straight over to the Museum of Flight as I wanted to catch the display of the Chinook helicopter.  This is a CH-47D “Chinook” that entered service in 1962 and has been in active service longer than any other Chinook.  It now belongs to the Washington Army National Guard.  In addition to the usual Guard service in natural disasters (flooding, fires) and rescues, this craft & crew saw service in Pakistan and Afghanistan.

This was to have been its delivery flight as it will be a new artifact for the Museum of Flight.  “The paperwork is not quite complete” so it was here for display only and departed at the end of the day.  We are confident it will soon be back for good.  Today the crew participated in a Veterans Day celebration at the Museum.
