Recently I wrote about the new Strathmore Watercolor Travel journal sketchbook.
I thought it was expensive for what it was and that I could quickly and easily make a similar item. Which is what I did today…. times four.
The cover is cut out of 12×12 card stock from the scrap-booking section of the craft store. I tried sewing one on the machine, as is the Strathmore version. I decided it was just easier to punch 3 holes and sew with a bit of crochet threat. I didn’t even bother to use the “good” waxed linen as I intend to take these back apart when finished.
They are one signature of four folios of 140 pound Legion Stonehenge Aqua watercolor paper, about 8×5 in size.
It’s the same size as I use in my disc bound book. They are small and lightweight, so good to carry in my reduced size sketch bag.
This is the small sketch bag with a minimal kit.
Edit for contents of yellow bag:
small metal palette, collapsible water cup, flat water bottle, mini sprayer, yellow kneadable erasers, shopcloth rag, 2 red binder clips, 3 travel brushes, fountain pen, white .08 gelly roll pen, 3 insert pen (black, brown, pencil), waterbrush, business cards, hand made sketchbook.
