About me & Contact

I’m MK Buike.  I was born and raised in Michigan where I attended undergrad and graduate universities, eventually earning a Masters degree in Social Work.  I’ve also lived & worked in England, Germany, Southern California and now Washington (state), near Seattle.  I’m a retired medical Social Worker with a past specialty in Oncology.   I’ve enjoyed exploring historical re-creation through the SCA.  I costume in several fandoms.  In February 2012 I returned to Art when I discovered Urban Sketching, a version of en plein air painting, founded by an artist for the Seattle Times! AT one point I added Sketchbook Skool and a local Drink and Draw to my activities though in 2017, I’m no longer involved.

I have an FAQ post with more information about my sketching tools and answers to some of the questions I’ve been asked.

  1. Hi, Kate,
You just posted on my Whidbey Island sketch done this Friday. I was curious to find out who “redharparts” was. How delightful to click & get linked to your sketching site! Love your work. Am inspired by how much you post … and obviously you check out other sketchers! How great is that!
